No matter if youâre a Coachella fanatic or a Lolla-palooza lover, a Glastonbury girl or a Bonnaroo buff, is there anything more amazing than a summer music festival? Only if you donât like seeing your favorite bands and musicians, despise the collective camaraderie experienced at such gatherings, and loathe the invariably interesting fashion statements you can see at these shows! Call us crazy, consider us presumptuous, but we have a feeling thatâs not you, dear reader.
Assuming you attend such fests, letâs talk about what you wear: an all-day music festival is the perfect time to embrace your inner bohemian. The goal is to create an outfit that works in challenging weather and is incredibly comfortable, but is still infused with coolness. When in doubt about what to wear, always look to the patron style saints of music festivals: Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Nicole Richie.
Of all the many things you need to think about when creating your fashionable fest ensemble, remember that your look needs to be incredibly versatile. Youâll probably be out from morning till after midnight, so itâs imperative that your outfit is in sync with the forecast. Also, since most music festivals are held in fieldsâwhich means grass, dust, and mudâyou need to pick hardy fabrics that wonât be immediately ruined by the elements. Denim is always a good choice, as are darker neutrals and busy or bold print pieces; basically you want something that will allow you to sit on the ground and wonât show dirt immediately. Always go for a shoe style that is conducive to standing and walking (flats), and make sure that theyâre properly broken in.
